ERROR CreateVirtualDirectory: Failed to update virtual directory SMS_DP_SMSPKGD$. I found out that I didnt have IIS6 WMI Compatibility enabled in the features of my server. This goes for absolutely everything under Asset Intelligence - Inventoried Software in the console. Is there any best practice to follow or any link that will clear all my points.

Solution: Verify that distribution manager can access the package source directory/distribution point. I thought my PC had died when I got this error but now it's as good as new. After installing this particular IIS feature and recycling the IIS now issue has been resolved. I have issues regarding SMS_DISCOVERY_DATA_MANAGER.
